Trump will attend White House Correspondents’ Dinner for first time as president
President Donald Trump announced that he will attend the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner for the first time as president on March 2.
Trump said in a Truth Social post that he is attending “in honor of our Nation’s 250th Birthday” and that he will be an “honoree.” “It will be my Honor to accept their invitation, and work to make it the GREATEST, HOTTEST, and MOST SPECTACULAR DINNER, OF ANY KIND, EVER!” he wrote.
USA TODAY has reached out to the White House Correspondents’ Association for comment.
The annual event usually selects a comedian to serve as the master of ceremonies, with previous hosts including Seth Meyers and Trevor Noah. However, this year mentalist Oz Pearlman will serve as host.
The dinner is scheduled for April 25 at the Washington Hilton in Washington, DC.
